  • Search engines love websites built with Wordpress and they index them faster and more frequently than static websites.

  • Visitors to your website can leave feedback on individual entries via a built in commenting system.

  • Because it’s open source software, you are free to customise it any way you like.

  • Built-in tools to automatically protect your website from comment spam.

  • Incorporates a user registration system to allow multiple authors to maintain your website.

Our own website uses a customised version of Wordpress. Try a demo of some of the hundreds of visual themes available. The Wordpress admin interface is available here. Please use admin as the username and demo as the password.

Simpleton

Simpleton is a PHP application which enables you to view Picasa2 image galleries on the web, using nothing more than the Picasa2 XML “web export” feature and an FTP client. Simpleton parses the generated XML and renders the image galleries on the fly.

If you already use Picasa and have a website then Simpleton may be for you.

Simpleton does not need a database and is easy to install, configure and use. It requires PHP V5 with the SimpleXML libraries and Apache V1.3+ with the mod_rewrite module.

The entire premise of Simpleton is to show albums on the web, once they have been “prepared” by Picasa. As such, there is no facility to leave comments and there is no facility for “private albums”. If you need those features, perhaps look elsewhere.

To get an idea of how Simpleton works, take a look at the demo or download it here.

Hastymail

Hastymail is a streamlined, secure, fast web based IMAP client written in PHP. Hastymail is designed to have low server requirements and follow internet standards for MIME, IMAP and SMTP communications. Hastymail is also designed to work with all the major and not so major web browsers available.

Hastymail does not use frames, javascript, or cookies and all output is 100% W3C compliant 4.01 transitional HTML. Here is a short list of some of what Hastymail has to offer that many other webmail clients do not:

  • International domain name (IDN) support for outgoing messages
  • The ability to see all unread message summaries in configured folders on one page.
  • Per user namespace support so users can access folders in alternative namespaces.
  • A really stripped down interface for small screen devices like phones and palms.
  • Cache control so sites can balance PHP session size with IMAP activity.
  • Tons of handy time saving abilities such as keep as new, skip trash on delete, skip saving in sent on send, delete/move while jumping to next or previous, find response in sent folder, view message thread, edit as new, send fake message bounce, send pasted message body unaltered (for inline patches), and lots more.
  • Built in PHP templates that allow easy and massive interface customization.
  • Actual HTML validation (4.01 traditional) without warnings or errors.
  • All character sets converted to HTML UTF-8 entities for display allowing mixed character set display within HTML validation guidelines.

There is no demo of Hastymail available but you can see some screenshots here.
