We sell America for the ruble!
Tuesday, 13 November 2007
I’ve been copping a spate of Cyrillic spam in the last few weeks, which my mailfilter has been happily dumping into the garbage, where it belongs. Here’s a recent example:
ПРОДАЕМ АМЕРИКУ ЗА РУБЛЬ!
Вы хотите дёшево звонить в другие города и страны?
С удовольствием предлагаем:
- низкие тарифы на международную и междугороднюю связь;
- высококачественную не IP телефонию;
- прямой телефонный номер;
- Интернет Узнай цены на страны:
(495) 662 + 8989
Babelfish tells me that in Eglish these bozos are saying this:
WE SELL AMERICA FOR THE RUBLE!
You do want cheaply to ring into other cities and countries?
We propose with the pleasure:
- low tariffs on the international and mezhdugorodnyuyu connection;
- high-quality not IP telephony;
- straight telephone number;
- the Internet learn prices of the countries:
(495) 662 + 8989
Makes more sense now that it’s translated, no?
Although, I’m a bit confused about the subject line. I mean, I know what a ruble is, but what’s it got to do with America? Has the Yankee dollar dropped that much in value that the whole country will soon be affordable by the Russian mafia?
And how many people do you know who can read Cyrillic? I thought so. Probably about as many as I do, maybe even less.
