Sony software: dumb, dodgy and dishonest?

Tuesday, 20 December 2005

For as long as the their executives continue to attend stupidity classes, Sony will continue to cop a battering from the consumers. Their Star Wars Galaxies online game has earned comments like:

“buggy, crap, dishonest, dumb, fraudulent, garbage, horrendous, horrible, ridiculous, sad, shambles, shocking, sucks, terrible, unplayable and worthless.”

With an average rating of 1 out of 5, and a number of reviewers stating that even that was too high, the bad word of mouth is spreading very swiftly. And what do you suppose is Sony’s response to all this?

“The game is better than ever with our fast-action combat system, improved character and profession development, and easy-to-follow directed content.”

Doing a quick lookup on +”star wars galaxies” +”is rubbish” on Google, shows around 500 results. So, is this “damage control” weaseling or just plain cluelessness?
