Flashturbation hall of shame

It's no secret what I think of Adobe Flash. It seems that most commercial applications of Flash on the web either tend to be intrusive, annoying ads or over-designed websites that only detract from their own usefulness. Our industry has even coined a special term for it.

Howard systems splash page

Flashturbation.

I won't elaborate where the term comes from, work that out for yourself. But I recently stumbled on an "all-flash" website which I think is an excellent example of flashturbation.

Howard Systems International are technology consultants whose websites primary objective seems to be to "dazzle" their audience with a zooming text slogan which proclaims that:

"YOU HAVE A JOB THAT NEEDS TO GET DONE NOW"

Well, bloody oath I do. So get your stupid splash page out of my way then, you dodos. When I click the link which takes me to your real website, you then brag about being "client focused" and "solution driven". Really? Well, if that's what you believe then you better talk to your web designers because there's a contradiction right there.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with self-indulgent Flash business sites? If so, drop me a line.
