Firefox 1.5 released
Monday, 5 December 2005
The award-winning Firefox browser has just had a major upgrade. There are a number of good reasons to update. Apart from the bugfixes, here’s what’s new in version 1.5:
- Automated software updates.
- Improvements to back and forward button navigation.
- Improvements to popup blocking.
- New “clear private data” feature.
- Usability improvements, including descriptive error pages, redesigned options menu and RSS discovery.
- Improved accessibility features.
- New “dob in a busted website” wizard.
- Additional CSS and JavaScript support.
- Additional security enhancements.
- Improvements to options/preferences
- Searchable cookie manager.
- Drag and drop reordering for browser tabs.
For those of you interested in the details, see the complete list of changes. The autocomplete bug, which I mentioned in an earlier post appears to have been fixed too. If you’re upgrading from an earlier version, there’s no need to uninstall your existing copy. Just download the new version and install.
If you’re still haven’t converted from the archaic and dodgy Internet Explorer, I won’t even bother trying to explain why you’re just an accident waiting to happen.
