Common usability blunders
The folks over at Smashing Magazine have put together a list of some very common usability blunders in web design. In no particular order, these are the problems designers still create for their customers:
- Content that is difficult to scan
- Duplicate page titles
- No way to search
- Too much functionality that requires registration
- Old permalinks pointing nowhere
- No way to get in touch
- Tiny clickable areas
- Long registration forms
- Pagination used for the wrong purpose
Personally, it's frustrating to still encounter all of these on a regular basis. It's especially frustrating to still encounter commercial sites without search facilities or an easy way for customers to get in touch with them.
