Common usability blunders

The folks over at Smashing Magazine have put together a list of some very common usability blunders in web design. In no particular order, these are the problems designers still create for their customers:

  • Content that is difficult to scan
  • Duplicate page titles
  • No way to search
  • Too much functionality that requires registration
  • Old permalinks pointing nowhere
  • No way to get in touch
  • Tiny clickable areas
  • Long registration forms
  • Pagination used for the wrong purpose

Personally, it's frustrating to still encounter all of these on a regular basis. It's especially frustrating to still encounter commercial sites without search facilities or an easy way for customers to get in touch with them.
