People

Ivan's mugshot Ivan Lutrov has over 20 years of hands-on experience as a professional programmer, database designer and systems analyst, and has experience with a number of programming languages, including PHP, JavaScript, VBScript, HTML, Perl, Visual Basic, C, C++, AWK, SQL, Pick Basic, dBase and COBOL.

Ivan continues to skillfully evade the seemingly natural progression to middle management, preferring instead to focus on freelance software development, something he claims to truly enjoy. He has worked with an extensive range of databases, including MySQL, Postgress, Oracle, SQL Server, Ingress, Universe, Pick and Access, in Linux and Windows environments. One of his main passions is computer interface usability and he strongly believes that the best computer systems are those which put the user in charge.

“Why is it that virtually all spam I get is trying to sell me baldness cures, weight-loss programs and breast enlarging techniques? How do they know that I’m some fat, balding bloke with a pair of tiny knockers?”

Ivan holds a Graduate Diploma of Business Information Technology from Swinburne University of Technology. He is an outspoken advocate of web standards-driven and accessible design, and is a member of the Web Standards Group. He also enjoys photography, fishing, cricket, tennis, music from the 70’s, cooking, fine wine and knows way too much about movies.

Steven's mugshot Steven Lutrov is a communications and software engineer with a background in science. Steven studied at RMIT and with his BOCP license he established several (regional) FM broadcasting stations holding positions as Chief Engineer.

Equipped with his software skills Steven became involved in the early days of Fidonet where he helped pioneer the FTSC Standards by writing his own bulletin board software and echomail processor. His bulletin board system, “The Software Parlour”, was in those days, the FidoNet mail gateway for Victoria and was renowned for its resources on software development and hacking.

The rapidly developing internet saw Steven focus more on networking, computing, software design and development. He helped establish several ISP businesses in Australia and went on to provide consulting work for Tom Cruise Productions, Universal Studios and the State and Federal Governments of Australia.

“I would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.”

Today, Steven does most of his paid work for a large Telco and codes web pages in his spare time, mostly in PHP/MySQL and JavaScript. He is an Associate of the Australian Computer Society and has 3 children with current wife Olya. Unlike his older brother, Steven has a genuine talent for music and plays regularly with his band Los Wages. He’s even been seen performing at his own birthday parties.
